Something happened just now that affirmed to me how important it is to be properly informed.
My son was playing with something around the house that he recently loved and transformed into a toy. While battering it like the cymbals on a drum set, it broke. He came to me with a look of despair “Mommy its broken…let’s go to the doctor…for fix it”
I said “Baby, the doctor cannot fix that”. He replied, totally convinced: “yes mommy, lets go doctor for fix it”.
I underscored “Baby, the doctor is not able to fix that. He fixes bodies not toys” Through his lack of understanding, he didn’t flinch. “Mommy let’s go doctor..let’s go for doctor to fix it. It’s broken.”
I guess because when we are ill, he knows that we go to the doctor and get all “fixed up”, he thought we should go to the same doctor to fix his broken toy.
It then hit me how many times we are uninformed so we end up making the wrong decisions about how to proceed in various matters. I think of so many times we see people making decisions about problems that on the surface look similar to ours, but in reality isn’t. Then we proceed as they do without confirmation or specific information, and up in a dilemma because we were not properly informed.
I mean seriously, if you are having problems with your car, you see a mechanic. You wouldn’t take your car to the supermarket to have a cashier fix your engine would you? Likewise you wouldn’t visit a garage to have a mechanic cash your groceries.
I think of so many times we refuse to go to God (who has all knowledge and answers) and wait on His instructions, then when our impulsive or uninformed decisions affect us negatively we blame God. Look at Proverbs 19:3 (NLT)
People ruin their lives by their own foolishness
and then are angry at the Lord.
Wisdom will dictate that we wait on God to be properly informed then when we move we will not only have proper knowledge, but we’ll have God’s favour on our affairs as well. I encourage you to take the time today to get some wisdom before making decisions especially life changing ones. This wisdom will give you peace and enrich your life all your days.
To acquire wisdom is to love oneself;
people who cherish understanding will prosper. (Pro 19:8) NLT
So with this in mind:
Get all the advice and instruction you can,
so you will be wise the rest of your life. (Pro 19:20) NLT
