*My Difference*

It’s ok to not love me  because I am different,
All I ask is that you respect my difference.

It’s ok to not appreciate me because I am different,
All I ask is that you respect my difference.

It’s ok to undermine me because I am different,
All I ask is that you respect my difference.

It’s ok to belittle my difference,
All I ask is that you respect my difference.

It’s ok to feel intimidated because I am different,
All I ask is that is that you respect my difference.

It’s ok to see my difference as unacceptable,
All I ask is that you respect my difference.

It’s ok to even despise me because I am different,
All I ask is that you respect my difference.

My difference makes me who I am,
My difference makes me beautiful,
My difference makes me special,
My difference sets me a part,
My difference glorifies the One who made me different.

My difference reveals your difference,
My difference makes you see,
That you’re different just like me,
That’s the way it’s supposed to be
My difference and your difference,
Makes the world a wonder of creative circumference.

  1. Beautiful, Amorelle, and would like to add “It’s okay to disagree with my opinions and decisions All I ask is that you respect my difference.” Because I can’t stand those who push their decisions onto me.

  2. I LOVE this line: “My difference glorifies the One who made me different.”

It reminds me of Paul’s comments to the Galatians: “we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.” (Galatians 5:26. The Message). Oh what a wonderful Creator we have. With His masterful hand, He has weaved our differences into a glorious tapestry.
